About the Journal

Disaster occur beyond the borders and with rising trend especially in recent decades. Increasing impact and complexity of disasters is evident from the preceding decade especially in low and middle-income countries like Middle East. Moreover, Disaster risk is already undermining the capacity of many countries to make the capital investments and social expenditures necessary to develop sustainably.

Because disasters are of significant threat for human life worldwide and can have destructive consequences for human being, health system should be prepare against health related consequences of this destructive natural and man mad phenomenon.

Developing scientific evidences and sharing international experiences can improve national preparedness and international collaboration which in line of all international suggestion like Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.This framework recommended that "Enhance access to and support for innovation and technology as well as in long-term, multi-hazard and solution-driven research and development in disaster risk management." Which can be improved by developing scientific collaboration.

Health in Emergencies and Disasters is a quarterly journal that published with collaboration between Health in Emergencies and Disasters Research Center of University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences ( & Iranian virtual Institute for Emergencies and Disasters ( from 2015 onward in English.

In Middle East, Health in Emergencies and Disasters Quarterly, as a scientific medium, has a unique situation in collaboration among researchers, health professionals and community as the key to share knowledge, experiences and thus improving health care services in emergencies and disasters. This journal provides a means for associations, institutions, centers, foundations, companies, and individuals concerned with emergencies and disasters to share perspectives, concerns, ideas, and information that will foster cooperative efforts to improve health aspects in emergencies and disasters.

Aim & Scopes Scope of Journal is limited to all topics related to different dimensions of the health in disaster and emergency (Risk Assessment and Management in Health Organizations, Evaluation of disaster Programs and Projects in health system, Disaster management and health information technology, hospital preparedness, prehospital emergency management system,….) in form of original and review paper as well as short communication, ediorial, commentary, and book review.
Submission process All manuscripts should be submitted online through Online Submission system of the journal. The submitting author takes all responsibilities for the article during submission and peer review.
Publication and peer review processes

After editorial assessment all submissions will be sent for the journals double-blind peer review, unless they are either irrelevant to the scope of journal or below the journal standards. They will generally be reviewed by two experts (blindly) with the aim of reaching a first decision as soon as possible. Reviewers are asked to declare any competing interests. In addition to their comments for the authors, reviewers are asked whether the writing is of acceptable quality. Where possible, the final decision is made on the basis that the peer reviewers are in accordance with one another, or that at least there is no strong disagreement. In cases where there is strong disagreement either among peer reviewers or between the authors and peer reviewers, advice is sought from a member of the journal Editorial Board. The journal allows a maximum of two revisions for any manuscript.
