Background: Improving psychological well-being for prehospital emergency technicians is necessary due to physical and mental stress caused by quick and immediate presence. Resilience plays an important role in reducing stress. The present study aimed to find the relationship between psychological well-being and resilience among pre-hospital emergency technicians in Yazd.
Materials and Methods: The present descriptive-correlational study was conducted in 2023 on 137 technicians working in Medical Emergency and Accident Management Center in Yazd province who were selected by a simple random sampling method. In order to measure psychological well-being, the Ryff questionnaire, and the resilience questionnaire (CD-RIS) was used to measure resilience. Data were analyzed using SPSS16 software using descriptive statistical tests, Wilcoxon non-parametric test, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results: A positive and significant correlation was observed between the components of resilience and psychological well-being. A significant relationship was reported between the mean score of psychological well-being and gender (P <0.05). The mean of the resilience score (94.43±13.90) and psychological well-being (74±9.77) was also extracted. In the field of resilience, the highest mean in the component of personal strength (30.71±5.29) and in psychological well-being field, the highest mean was related to the component of positive relationship (13.62±2.71).
Conclusion: It is necessary for planners and policy makers to deal with stressful factors in the form of programs to promote psychological well-being and resilience, emphasizing the main priorities of the study including communication skills and support from others, personal strength, and spirituality.
